Vassar College and New York Stage and Film Present Powerhouse Theater


Powerhouse Theater Apprentice Company will perform July 4-22, 2013, including the shows Look Don’t Look, As You Like It, Agamemnon, and Blood Wedding

The Powerhouse Theater Apprentice Company season kicks off on Thursday, July 4, and will run through Monday, July 22. It will include a devised performance in the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center developed with the live composing sign language called "soundpainting." The company also perform three plays at the Vassar Farm, including works by Shakespeare, Aeschylus, and Garcia Lorca.


Annabella Sciorra heads the cast of Downtown Race Riot, a portrait of a city and a boy in crisis written by Seth Zvi Rosenfeld, June 26-July 7, 2013

The first Vassar & New York Stage and Film Powerhouse Theater mainstage production of the 2013 season, Downtown Race Riot, begins performances on Wednesday June 26 at 8:00pm. The new play by Seth Zvi Rosenfeld, directed by Scott Elliott, and featuring Annabella Sciorra, will run for thirteen performances, June 26-July 7


New work by Steve Martin & Edie Brickell, and by Tony Award® winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, highlight the 2013 Vassar & New York Stage and Film Powerhouse Theater Season

The line-up of new works for the 29th Powerhouse season includes a musical by actor, writer, and prolific Grammy Award® winner Steve Martin and fellow musician Edie Brickell, as well as the latest from Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator of Broadway’s In the Heights. The 6-week season runs from June 21-July 28.


Tony nominees Daniel Breaker and Will Swenson & Dee Roscioli and Rebecca Naomi Jones in cast of the Powerhouse Theater workshop of Murder Ballad (7/27-29).

Tony nominees Daniel Breaker (Passing Strange, Shrek The Musical) and Will Swenson (Hair, Priscilla Queen of the Desert), as well as Dee Roscioli (Wicked) and Rebecca Naomi Jones (American Idiot, Passing Strange) join the 28th Vassar & New York Stage and Film Powerhouse Theater season in the workshop of the new indie rock musical Murder Ballad, by Julia Jordan and Juliana Nash, directed by Trip Cullman (7/27-29).
